Hello blog!
I haven’t seen you for awhile and I couldn’t remember your password when I showed up this morning to see how you have been. It’s a good thing that I take care of my daughters better than I have taken care of you over the past year or so. You’re always [...]

While most of my reading compatriots were enjoying the excitement over each new Harry Potter release I sat back and watched. At the time I was in my full on reading snob mode and didn’t feel the need to lower my literary standards for the likes of a young adult book about magic and wizards, [...]

So this past weekend was my first time participating in Dewey’s Read-a-Thon. I have to be honest and let you all know that I mocked it relentlessly. C’mon REALLY??? Reading for 24 hours straight with a bunch of people you don’t know or even communicate with is pretty darn ridiculous. Ridiculously wonderful.
Prior to this [...]

Here is a quote for those of us who might not have gotten as deep into our To Be Read Pile as we had hoped during Dewey’s Read-A-Thon.
“What shall I do with all my books?” was the question; and the answer, “Read them,” sobered the questioner. But if you cannot read them, at any rate [...]

Okay I’m planning on taking this reading thing a whole lot more serious now! I’m home and in my reading attire and all of the other distractions are done for the day.
I mean it I’m going to really finish this DAMN wonderful book that I’m reading!
Now I just need to stop TALKING about reading and [...]

7:00 am
As usual I was up at 5:30 am this morning. The not so usual part was that I am a tad bit hungover. Vodka is such an evil drink. It’s so sneaky and by the time you realize what it’s doing to you you’re too far gone to do anything about it. I’m up. [...]

Whew! Tomorrow is my birthday and so far I’ve survived the week prior without any major events happening. I just need to make it through today and tomorrow and all is good. I
I’ve had two miscarriages the week just before my birthday and been dumped on my birthday. It’s made me a little [...]

From this point until the end of year I vow to not purchase any new books. This is RIDICULOUS. I have more unread books in my house then any literate human being really needs. This weekend I purchased TWO books at Borders, simply because I had an educators discount and TWO at a conference I [...]

A graveyard is not normally a democracy, and yet death is the great democracy, and each of the dead had a voice, an an opinion as to whether the living child should beallowed to stay, and they were each determined to be heard, that night.
The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman recently won the Newberry Award. [...]

Last night I finished Joe Hill’s Heart Shaped Box. I’m usually not much of a horror reader. It’s not that I don’t enjoy a good horror book it’s just not the genre that I get the most enjoyment out of.
Horror books were some of the genre that I devoured early on in my reading life. [...]
